Live social music sharing for BlackBerry now available

BBM music has been made available by Research in Motion to Australian BlackBerry users giving them access to a cloud based music network community that will enable them to share songs with their friends. The music library that can be shared begins with the BB user’s personal song collections of up to fifty lists and can grow more as additional music is shared in between BBM friends. The new app will also allow users to choose songs from a list and listen in to hundreds of full music track from major recording companies and their music library will continue to grow as they add more friends.

According to co-CEO and RIM president Mike Lazaridis in its press release, “We have partnered with leading music companies to provide a ‘full track’ music sharing and discovery experience that will provide users with quality music on demand and allow them to connect with friends on a whole new level.” The BBM music application can be downloaded from official BlackBerry App Work and users will be granted with thirty day free trial or they can opt for a monthly subscription amounting to $5.99/ month. Additionally, Mike Lazaridis said that “More than 45 million customers already love the social communication benefits delivered through BBM and we are thrilled to be extending the experience into a uniquely social and interactive music service.”

Once you are subscribed with the application, you can share up to twenty five songs every month to keep your music compilation updated and create multiple playlists using both your own profile and your friends’. The application also enables users to save the music so it can be listened to offline and access the playlist even without a wireless coverage.

The aim of this new application is to allow BB users to fully enjoy a real social community based on different music experienced shared between friends. And it can only get better because the more friends you add, the more songs you can compile and listen to with or without wireless coverage. In addition to that, users can also discover the type of music their BBM music friends are listening into and they can also comment on either the song itself or the playlist in general. They can also see which of their friends contributed the song as it plays and within the BBM app, users will be able to view a visual timeline that will show new updates from all users within the community the user belongs to. This application has indeed pushed forward the experience of listening into music another notch and this is not your typical download – save music file action.

The new BBM music app enables subscribed BB users to join a social community based on music. While enabling them to collect and listen to their favorite songs, the BBM music app also enables BB users to get updates from their friends at the same time. This is more like fusing your music hobby with social networking.
